DAF 66 Super Luxe
The Rally sensation of 1968! In order to get rid of the frumpy image, two DAFs participated in the London-Sydney rally in 1968. The fact that DAF is a sporty and reliable car was already well known to the manufacturers, but also to the motorsport-loving Netherlands. This was proven once again when the DAF 55 with Rob Slotemaker and Rob Janssen shot the “Number 30” over the finish line in Sydney in 17th place. Since then, several DAF cars have participated in sporting events. With the reversing races on the circuit in Valkenswaard as the low point, where countless DAFs were destroyed, and the absolute highlight was the aforementioned race and the successes of the DAF trucks with Jan de Rooij at the wheel during “Le Dakar”! This DAF comes from a true enthusiast who converted the car into a real Rally cannon with many expensive modifications. To mention a few, we mention the 1.4 liter engine with larger carburetors and faster (sharper) camshafts. In addition, the car is equipped with a roll cage and disc brakes on the front axle. The drivetrain comes from the Volvo 340 (which in turn was originally developed as the DAF 77 before Volvo took over the passenger car division). All this makes this DAF a real Rally sensation with great power. This DAF is also very seriously fast! Spectacle and sensation guaranteed! The car belonged to an owner (family) from 2008 to the end of 2024 who restored and rebuilt the car with great love and attention to detail in the period 2018-2022. The photo report of this is also available. We then further improved and further modified the car to further improve the reliability, driving experience and rally use. After the restoration, the car has hardly been driven and it has never been used during rallies or agility tests! She is therefore in an undamaged and restored condition and, as far as we are concerned, ready for use during agility tests, rallies, (winter) trials and puzzle rides!
